About Leigh S. Leshner, Esq.
A solo business and entertainment attorney, Leigh Leshner brings hands on business and entertainment experience to her practice where she represents producers, writers, directors, actors, production companies and business owners. Her practice includes business legal services from contract negotiation and drafting, entity formation and copyright and trademark matters to management, talent, rights acquisitions, development, option, production and distribution agreements and production legal work for film and television. She also provides personal legal services ranging from legal advice regarding consumer issues, resolution of personal legal issues, service issues with suppliers, personnel and companies and insurance issues.
As a client-oriented law practitioner, Ms. Leshner takes the time to listen to clients, to elicit their individual needs and to formulate their goals in order to tailor her services to reach positive legal solutions. She uses her knowledge and expertise to achieve results and build solid and lasting relationships with her business, producer, writer, director, actor and production company clients.
Ms. Leshner is President of the Beverly Hills Bar Association Barristers, the Chairperson of the Bar Association’s Vintage Bouquet, an Executive Committee Member of the Entertainment Section and a Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce Ambassador. She received her law degree from Southwestern University School of Law’s 2-year accelerated SCALE program and completed her undergraduate studies at Boston University in the College of Communication, with a Bachelor of Science in Broadcasting and Film and a minor in Marketing. Ms. Leshner earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree in the Independent Film and Television Producers Program at the University of California at Los Angeles.
A volunteer at Bet Tzedek Legal Services working in the Holocaust reparations area and a long-standing member of Women In Film, Ms. Leshner also provides pro bono and educational services through the Beverly Hills Bar Association. She has organized over 50 entertainment programs for the Beverly Hills Bar Association, Women In Film and served on the syllabus committee for the USC Institute on Entertainment Law and Business since 2007. Ms. Leshner was awarded the Beverly Hills Bar Association’s Barrister Lawrence J. Blake Award, in September 2006.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Leshner was an independent producer, worked at World International Network and was a research analyst in the entertainment division of Arthur Anderson & Company. She founded Venture Entertainment Group, Inc., a film, television and video production company where she developed, produced, marketed and distributed award winning sell-through programming and infomercials. An entrepreneur at heart, Ms. Leshner started her first business venture at the age of eleven and produced a line of clothing that sold throughout the United States while in high school. Ms. Leshner has written six books on vintage jewelry and has been a jewelry and antique dealer and appraiser for more than 20 years. These early life experiences allowed Ms. Leshner to combine her creativity with her love of business and develop skills that she continues to employ in her current endeavors.
